My Journey

I was struggling with my own mental health some years back and looking for help. In my search, I came across a barn that offered equine assisted therapy, which I didn't even know existed at the time. I always had a love for horses, and they had a Veteran's program offering 6 free sessions. Being a veteran, I thought I'd give it a try. After those 6 weeks, my life was changed. Those people and horses had saved my soul. After that, I started volunteering. One day a week turned into 2, then 3, and before I knew it, I was a barn hand and handler during their group therapy sessions. I decided I wanted to know more about horses, as my knowledge and experience was lacking, so I enrolled into the Equine Science Program at Scottsdale Community College. I graduated SCC in December 2024, did an internship at another equine assisted psychotherapy barn, got my EAGALA certification and am now currently working as an equine specialist as part of the EAGALA team. Everything has come full circle from where I started and what I've wanted to do. This is my way of giving back to the people and the horses that have helped me by continuing to help others on their journey.
